SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – LIV Golf’s best team in 2023 did nothing to suggest its anything but that on Friday at Rich Harvest Farms.

The 4Aces Golf Club went low in tough conditions at LIV Golf Chicago, posting a combined score of 10 under to tie for fifth on the team leaderboard entering the weekend. The team began the week first in the team season standings with 172 points, nine points ahead of Torque Golf Club.

Once again, the team’s biggest guns put up two of the lowest rounds. Patrick Reed was spectacular, firing a 4-under 67 with no bogeys to lead the way. He was tied for fourth in greens in regulation (83.33%) and tied for the lead in scrambling (3 for 3).

Captain Dustin Johnson was similarly impressive with his 3-under 68. Surgically making his way through a course with challenges around every corner, Johnson made only one bogey and had a stretch of four birdies in 10 holes. Johnson was fourth in driving distance (314.4 yards) and had the fourth-longest drive of the day, a 332.9-yard blast on the 10th hole.

Teammate Peter Uihlein, the glue of the team early in the season, matched his captain’s 68 with a stellar bogey-free round for the final counting score. It was a positive sign for Uihlein, who is coming off a 35th-place finish at LIV Golf Bedminster. Uihlein appears to be regaining his form from the start of the year when he opened with four consecutive top-10 finishes.

The 4Aces GC was rolling so well on Friday that it didn’t even need Pat Perez’ 1-under 70, which included five birdies. Having all four players shoot under par on a challenging course should bode well as the weekend approaches.
