Preview

Onward and upward. That’s the mindset for 4Aces Golf Club as it puts Mayakoba in the rearview mirror and focuses on rebounding at LIV Golf Las Vegas.

The team members can look to Captain Dustin Johnson for inspiration. The two-time major champion said he rededicated himself in the offseason and put in extra work after 2023 didn’t meet his own high expectations. Well, it paid off in the season opener. Johnson had rounds of 4-under 67 or Friday and Sunday, but perhaps his best showing came on Saturday when the field was battling high winds and tough scoring conditions. Johnson grinded out an impressive even-par 71 to keep him in the mix entering the final round.

Teammate Patrick Reed showed his world-renowned short game and ball-striking in the opening round, when he went deep with a 7-under 64 before finishing the week T17. It was that kind of performance, coupled with Johnson’s showing, that will keep 4Aces GC as a favorite for the season-long title.

With Harold Varner III finding his role on his new team and Pat Perez always seemingly contributing scores when his team needs it most, 4Aces GC is in good shape entering Sin City.

There isn’t much history for the players at Las Vegas Country Club, but if the course attributes are any indication, expect a much better performance from the team this week. LVCC is not an overly long course, features only two par 5s on its normal scorecard and puts a premium on iron play and the short game. Look at this roster and it’s clear that the all-world ball-strikers will feel right at home in Las Vegas.
