SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – If this was the plan for 4Aces Golf Club, it’s working to perfection to this point.

Entering the week leading the season-long team standings, 4Aces GC needed to perform well to not only maintain its small lead but potentially pad it. Mission accomplished through two days.

Captain Dustin Johnson led the attack with a sizzling 5-under 66 to back up his 68 from Friday. It has looked almost effortless for the two-time major champion, who is tied for third on the individual leaderboard at 8 under and five shots back of Sebastian Munoz.

“It was kind of the same today as yesterday,” Johnson said. “I hit it really well, hit a lot of fairways, hit a lot of really good shots and gave myself a bunch of looks.”

The scary part is that it could have been even better. Johnson has lipped out multiple putts during the first two rounds, but it’s still a sign that his putting is on target. And look for him to be aggressive once again on Sunday as he chases down Munoz.

“This golf course, you can shoot 8 under or you can shoot even and really not play much different,” Johnson said. “Obviously we need some help from Sebastian, but just go out and shoot as low as we can and see what happens at the end.”

As for the team, 4Aces GC is tied for third on the team leaderboard entering Sunday with a two-day combined score of 18 under, just four off the lead of Torque Golf Club.

Peter Uihlein maintained his scoring prowess at Rich Harvest Farms and carded a 2-under 69 while teammate Pat Perez had a counting score of 1-under 70. Patrick Reed continued to shine with a 70 as well, but his score wasn’t needed.
