The goal was to build a nice cushion this week before the Team Championship in Miami. And while 4Aces Golf Club didn’t add more protection, the teammates still have time to maintain their lead in the season-long standings.

Entering LIV Golf Jeddah presented by ROSHIN, 4Aces GC has been the most impressive team this year and led the season-long team standings with 188 points, 10 more than second-place Crushers Golf Club. Things got a little tighter on Saturday. 4Aces GC stands ninth on the team leaderboard in Jeddah while Crushers GC stands in first place.

Taking the top overall team position is important entering Miami, but 4Aces GC will earn a first-round bye regardless of what happens on Sunday in Jeddah. That will allow some time to rest and reset before the final event of the season.

Leading the way this week is captain Dustin Johnson. The two-time major champion came out on fire Friday with a 4-under 66 and followed it up with a 2-under 68 to sit in a tie for ninth place entering Sunday on the individual leaderboard.

It was a case of the 68s for the team members in Round 2 and there was nothing wrong with that. Johnson, Peter Uihlein, Patrick Reed and Pat Perez all shot 2-under 68s.

Johnson has a chance to grab the third-place bonus individual spot. The situation is simple: Johnson needs to win this week or have Bryson DeChambeau finish no better than 15th. DeChambeau enters Sunday in tied for fourth.

Reed entered Jeddah with two scenarios to finish in the third-place bonus individual spot. The first is to win in Jeddah and have DeChambeau finish no better than sixth. The second is to finish runner-up, DeChambeau finishes no better than 15th and Johnson, Branden Grace or Brooks Koepka not win the event.
