Time is running out for teams to make strong runs for a title as the LIV Golf season nears the finish line. For 4Aces Golf Club, the time has gotten even more compressed after a challenging showing at LIV Golf UK by JCB.

4Aces GC showed flashes at times, but it wasn’t quite enough as it finished 10th on the leaderboard and well off the lead in the UK. The team stands in 10th place in the season-long team standings as well, and will look to right the ship to make a jump before 2024 concludes.

Not helping the team at JCB Golf and Country Club was having to count two over-par scores by two different players in Rounds 1 and 3. But they continued to post solid scores to stay out of the basement, and received some consistent performances by its leaders.

Captain Dustin Johnson opened with an even-par round then caught fire on the weekend, combining to shoot 5 under in the final two rounds to finish T20. Johnson is No. 13 in the season-long individual standings and is trending nicely to make a jump in the upcoming events.

Another bright spot was Harold Varner III, who was coming off a 51st-place finish in Spain. Varner III shot 5 under for the week in the UK to tie his captain at T20. He stands No. 47 in the season-long individual standings, just outside the Drop Zone, and will need a strong finish to the season to be in a safe spot.

Teammate Patrick Reed was steady and didn’t hurt his team. He had three counting scores and shot a combined 4 under on the weekend. He stands No. 20 in the season standings and is poised to make a charge.

It was a week to forget for Pat Perez, who finished 52nd and had two rounds of 77 sandwiched around a 2-under 69.

The team will have three weeks off before heading to the United States for LIV Golf Greenbrier, which takes place Aug. 16-18. The Old White Course in West Virginia has been the setting for plenty of memorable performances on the LIV Golf League.

The course has hosted numerous professional events and is known for its tight, tree-lined fairways and undulating greens. It’s the first 18-hole golf course at The Greenbrier and was designed by Charles Blair Macdonald before opening for play in 1914. The course was named for the well-known Old White Hotel, which stood on the grounds from 1858-1922.
