4Aces Greenbrier Recap STORY image

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va. - Ideal scoring conditions and the opportunity to make a move in the standings were there for the taking at LIV Golf Greenbrier, but it wasn’t in the cards for 4Aces Golf Club.

The team finished T10 at The Old White and stands in 10th place in the season-long team standings. The 4Aces entered the week mathematically eliminated from contention for a top-3 seed and a bye. But all is not lost. Following LIV Golf Chicago next month, the 4Aces will be among the 10 teams that will play in the Day 1 quarterfinals at the season-ending Team Championship in Dallas.

The 4Aces got off to a tough start Friday and the hole in which to dig out of proved too big. The team shot a combined 2-under to stand in last place as only one player shot under par (Pat Perez, 2-under 68).

Saturday proved more successful with a move up the team leaderboard. Patrick Reed (66) and captain Dustin Johnson (67) bounced back nicely, and Perez once again shot under par with a 69.

Reed continued to lead his team in the final round when he exploded for a 7-under 63, which vaulted him up the leaderboard and led to a T15 finish.

It was an important week for teammates Harold Varner III and Perez who were hovering around the Drop Zone bubble, but they made it safely into the Open Zone and ended the week in the final two spots at No. 47 and No. 48, respectively.

The team will have nearly a month off before heading to LIV Golf Chicago (Sept. 13-15) at Bolingbrook Golf Club. That’s where the 2024 Individual Champion will be crowned before everyone’s attention shifts to the Team Championship Dallas the following week.
